The George Shangrow Society

Ensuring the future of Harmonia

George Shangrow

For those of us who remember George Shangrow (1951–2010) there will never be another like him: his charm, his humor, his wit and — above all — his passion for music.

George brought every performance to life, and he made his audiences and musicians into his friends. He enriched the musical life of the Pacific Northwest through his radio and television programs, his advocacy for new composers and rarely heard works, and especially by creating the Seattle Chamber Singers and later the Broadway Symphony, which became Orchestra Seattle, and nurturing the combined ensemble for 40 years.

When George died tragically in 2010, many wondered if the organization would live on. A decade later, the answer is unequivocally, “Yes.”

Now, to honor George, Harmonia has established The George Shangrow Society, a planned-giving program to ensure that George’s legacy lives on well into the future.

The George Shangrow Society recognizes planned gifts such as:

A planned gift will likely offer financial benefits to you as well as to Harmonia. If you are considering being recognized in the George Shangrow Society, please contact giving@harmoniaseattle.org to initiate a conversation with our board president, Stephen Hegg.

All gifts are subject to Harmonia’s gift-acceptance policy as adopted by the our Board of Directors. Be sure to consult your tax advisor, attorney or financial planner to examine your overall financial situation to decide which option is right for you.
